The right color, on the right wall
Guidance on paint colors, wallpaper, sheen, and how they flow between rooms. A second set of eyes, not interior design.
- Colors tested in your own light before a gallon is opened
- Sheen chosen surface by surface, not one finish for the whole house
- Undertones and room-to-room flow checked against your floors and trim
Guidance, on-site
A few short clips of the conversation we have with homeowners while we walk their rooms.
Color decisions that hold up on the wall
Color looks different on a chip, on a small swatch, and on a full wall. It looks different again after the primer, at 8am vs. 5pm, next to your floor and your trim. We walk your rooms with you and pin down what actually works before the first gallon is opened.
Color Selection
Guidance on paint colors that fit your rooms, your light, and how you use the space. We help narrow a shortlist, test in the right spots, and confirm on the wall before we start.
Sheen and Finish
Matte, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss, gloss. Each behaves differently on walls, ceilings, trim, and cabinets. We recommend the right finish per surface so the room reads consistent and holds up to daily wear.
Undertones and Lighting
The same “white” can read blue, pink, or green depending on the light and the surfaces around it. We check undertones under your actual lighting so the result matches what you had in mind.
Room-to-Room Flow
Colors do not live in isolation. Open sightlines pull adjacent rooms into the same story. We look at how colors move from room to room so the whole floor feels intentional, not stitched together.
Wallpaper Guidance
Scale, pattern, and color choice matter as much as the paper itself. We help pick something that works with your ceiling height, natural light, and the paint around it. Then we coordinate the install.

Color Questions Homeowners Often Ask
What affects the cost of color guidance?
Cost depends on how many rooms are being reviewed, whether the visit covers paint only or also wallpaper and finishes, how many colors are still undecided, and whether the guidance is part of a painting project we are already scheduled to do. We confirm the scope with you before the visit.
What sheen should I use in each room?
Sheen changes both how a color reads and how the surface holds up, so it is chosen surface by surface rather than one finish for the whole house.
- Walls in living areas: Matte or eggshell for an even, low glare finish
- Kitchens, baths, and hallways: Eggshell or satin, which handle cleaning and moisture better
- Trim, doors, and cabinets: Semi gloss or gloss for durability where hands and furniture make contact
How long does a color guidance visit take?
Timing depends on the number of rooms, how many colors are still open, and whether samples need to be seen at more than one time of day. Light shifts from morning to evening, so a color that looks right at noon can read differently after dinner. When a decision is close, we leave samples on the wall and follow up rather than forcing a choice on the spot.
